Image Optimization: How to Keep a Visual Website Fast

Good imagery builds trust, but oversized files can slow a site down. Use the right dimensions, format, and loading behavior.

Web design and marketing guidance for Image Optimization: How to Keep a Visual Website Fast

Images are often the heaviest files on a small-business website. Before uploading, resize an image to the largest size it will actually display. A phone photo copied directly from a camera can be much larger than a web page needs.

Use modern, compressed image formats where practical and keep meaningful images sharp enough to support the page. Reserve eager loading for the main image near the top of a page; images farther down can load as visitors approach them. Always provide dimensions so the layout does not jump while an image arrives.

Review image weight whenever a page feels slow. Small improvements across a hero image, project gallery, and service cards can make the site faster without making it look less polished.
